Chinese Police Harass Grieving Parents

This story once again illustrates the corruption of the Chinese government:

"Most of the 900 students in the school were killed May 12 in a deluge of bricks and concrete, even though buildings around the schools remained largely intact. Rescue workers and soldiers scoured the rubble for days afterward, but few survivors were pulled out.

The Southern Metropolis News quoted a rescuer as saying that rubble from the school showed that no steel reinforcing bars had been used in construction, only iron wire, The Associated Press reported."

Although China gives off the impression of at least trying to do what's best for the majority, at the expense of the minority, this story clearly shows that is only a facade. As parents protested the shoddy construction of the schools, which led to their children's deaths, they were harassed by uniformed police officers... protest supressed to conceal corruption.

Back in the USA

I got a very good call this morning... Hubby is back in the U.S.!!! I have not talked about his deployment, for his safety, but now that he's back from the sandbox I wanted to share the good news. :)

The photos of him above are at the ruins of Babylon (rebuilt partially by Saddam), in a shemagh (the head covering thing), and with Oliver North.

Charlie Wilson and Afghanistan's recent history

Today I watched "Charlie Wilson's War", which I thought was a great movie. Really fun to watch, and inspiring to boot. However, I am always curious how historically accurate this type of movie is, and I found the following video on YouTube challenging one aspect of the movie's take on history:

So now I'm curious about the whole story and would love to get your suggestions on historically accurate books about the covert war in Afghanistan. I don't remember much from that era, since I was pretty much in grade school at the time. :)

You're a wolf!

So one time I had a dream in which I received an important FedEx envelope. I knew it was from my hubby, but on the envelope it just said "wolf" on the upper left-hand corner, where it usually says who the item is from.

I woke up in the middle of the night and tried to explain it to Hubby but I was still asleep aparently, because all I could get out was "it says 'wolf" in the from spot" and simply... "you're a wolf", which I thought was pretty funny at the time. Then I fell asleep again. :)

The reason I'm sharing this story with you? I was listening to different songs on my computer today and realized the title of this one: "You're a wolf".
